Player Performance Expectations: 2016-17 Season
The primary goal is to have every player strive for varsity level placement. In order to achieve this level, players must increase their physical fitness as well as their confidence on the ball.
As with any athletic program, there are responsibilities placed on players and coaches. Players are responsible for physical fitness and ball mastery. Coaches are responsible for game strategies, player position management, and tactical designs. If a player cannot meet the physical demands of the game nor maintain a high level of ball control, then no amount of coaching strategies, management, or tactics will benefit the team’s overall success.
Players’ minimum responsibilities include:
Off-season
Pre-season
Season: Week 1 = Simulate physical exhaustion / monitor skill ability*
All players should be able to:
Evaluation Day 1
Coach Kimble is looking for the top 20 players’ scores to begin the varsity roster for the 2016-17 season. If additional players meet all minimum requirements, then a junior varsity roster will be considered. Coach Kimble considers 26 players or more to be ideal for a two team roster.
LET ME BE VERY CLEAR . . .
*The season begins on February 27, 2017. It is the player’s responsibility to be in the best physical shape AND have a high level of ball skills. It is the coach’s responsibility to assess the player’s level of fitness and ability during the FIRST week of the season.
*The top 20 athletes, regardless of grade level, will make up the varsity-level team. If additional athletes demonstrate physical fitness and ball mastery within the minimum level of expectations, then a junior varsity level team will exist.
*If no additional athletes - beyond the top 20 - perform within the minimum expectations, then the junior varsity team will not be an option and under-performing athletes will be dismissed from the Lady Panthers Soccer Program.
*If there are athletes within the top 20 who do not meet the minimum expectations, then they minimize their field time and they will be required to increase their fitness level and/or ball mastery until those expectations are achieved.
*The best will play.
